Red Flags When Hiring a Pool Contractor in Texas

Most bad pool-construction outcomes had a warning sign early on that was easy to rationalize away at the time. Riverstone and First Colony both require architectural control committee approval for pool and backyard plans, including review of fencing and setbacks relative to the deed restrictions, which is handled during the design phase.

Process Red Flags

A builder unwilling to walk the actual property before quoting, pressure to sign before a design is finalized, or a quote with no itemized breakdown by phase are all worth pausing on. A legitimate site evaluation covers soil, drainage, and access before a number gets attached to anything.

Contract and Licensing Red Flags

A payment schedule not tied to completed phases, vague or absent warranty language, or reluctance to confirm who specifically holds any required state licensing and insurance are all reasons to ask more questions before signing. See Pool Builder Licensing and Insurance Requirements in Texas for what's actually required.
